Ulysse Nardin Smartphone Uses Kinetic Energy

We’re familiar with kinetic watches, but who wears those old relics anymore? A kinetic smartphone is much more suitable for the 21st century, and Ulysse Nardin has the answer. The “Chairman,” whose technology is actually borrowed from Ulysse Nardin’s kinetic watches, has a revolving rotor on the back that provides supplemental battery power. It also looks damn sexy, and the other features are pretty cool as well. There’s a 2.8-inch multi-touch screen, a 5-megapixel camera, biometric fingerprint unlocking and an e-mail browser with Wi-Fi. The Chairman is on display at the Baselworld watch and jewelry expo, but there’s no word on pricing or availability. We’re guessing the answer is “soon” and “not cheap.”

"Students of the Bauhaus, which formed the basis university of graphic design world, developed a control for the Wii in partnership with the Montana group, manufacturer of the best sprays for graffiti. The idea is to attach the control to a kind of tin, and drawing out ... As they say, the Wii Spray did not come to replace the art of graffiti, but to bring this universe to the virtual world. The project has not yet been made, but I swear I had the desire to have one.

The technology is based on the integration of various platforms such as Flash, Wii Flash Server, and Wii. They are now considering further improvements to the project, as different thickness of nozzles and a larger area to make the design."

"Jax Lives" On March 19 At The Earl

(ATLANTA – March 9, 2009) "Everybody Loves Chris – Jax Lives” on March 19 at the Earl is a tribute to the life of Chris “Jax” Thurston.  Jax, a member of Atlanta Hip-Hop mainstay Binkis Recs, passed away suddenly late last year, leaving an irreplaceable void in the city.

The show was originally intended to be a Binkis Recs’ 10-year anniversary celebration which coincidentally coincides with Jax’s birthday on March 15. The event will now commemorate Jax’s life and legacy.

Jax always wanted to see local hip-hop groups Mars Ill and Minamina Goodsong perform once again together on the same stage. After several years on tour, both groups parted ways and left the scene to pursue other interests. For one night only, Mars Ill (emcee Manchild and DJ Dust) and Minamina Goodsong (emcees Pgnut, A.D., Twain and DJ T Challa) will reunite and perform on the same stage like it is still 2003.

The event will also be Binkis Recs’ first show since Jax passed away in November of 2008.

The door price is $10. Advance tickets are available online at www.ticketalternative.com for $8. All proceeds will be donated to Jax’s family.

Doors open at 9 p.m. Arrive early for the premiere of “Jax Forever,” a collection of interviews with friends remembering Jax. The short film is directed by Eljay Williams, who also produces Comcast’s The Stand On Demand, a mini-documentary series on independent hip-hop, and was produced after Jax passed.

For more information on Jax or the show, visit www.myspace.com/binkis or email Flux at binkis1@comcast.net.

TRIUMVIR Exclusives For USC’s CASA Culture Show 2009

"Dimming the lights to present a more intimate and contributive project, Triumvir brings forth a collaboration with the University of Southern California’s Chinese American Student Association (CASA) for their upcoming Culture Show. A project that will be a joint effort in support of their upcoming musical, Unforgettable which premieres on March 7th for one night only.
Hidden by the glitz and glamour of Shanghai during the mid 1930’s, the plot mirrors the turmoil, moral corruption and emotions caused by the brink of the 2nd Sino Japanese War.
The collaboration will include 2 limited edition t-shirts, with design concepts that were derived from The Flying Tigers; the first American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, as well as The Father of Modern China and political leader; Sun Yat-Sen. Set to release on Friday, March 6th. For more details on the collaboration and the upcoming show click here (hyperlinked to Triumvir). "

Must See Movie: Storm Warriors 2

I've never even heard of part 1. Anyways this movie looks like it's gonna be good. Im all for over-stylized action sequences, escpecially if they look like some "300" ish. Here is a little more info on the movie...

"The Storm Warriors (traditional Chinese: 風雲II; simplified Chinese: 风云II) is an upcoming 2009 Hong Kong martial arts fantasy film produced and directed by The Pang Brothers. It is a sequel to the 1998 film The Storm Riders, both of which are based on the manhua Fung Wan by Ma Wing-Shing. The Storm Warriors is also known by its English-language working title, The Storm Riders II, a title that was changed in order to avoid copyright disputes.

Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok respectively reprise their roles as Wind and Cloud, who this time find themselves up against Lord Godless (Simon Yam), a ruthless Japanese warlord who intends on invading China.

For the film, the Pangs were inspired by Fung Wan's popular Japanese Invasion story arc The Death Battle.[1] The Storm Warriors was shot primarily in Bangkok, Thailand, and marks the first Chinese film to be shot in bluescreen and on custom-made sets. The film is expected to be released in Hong Kong on 17 December 2009."

Marq Spekt & Lex Boogie: Guilty Party

Get It Here

"For the past decade MarQ Spekt has been underground hip-hop's Bobby Fischer. Popping up on tracks and ripping them to shreds before melting back into the night. Half-myth, half-legend, Spekt has somehow been a part of every significant movement in the east-coast underground for ten years, without ever fully emerging from the shadows. Originally signed to Subverse with MF DOOM and The Micronauts, his 2001 Liquid Smoke b/w Shoplifter 12" is an Ebay classic. Add to that his blazing cameos on Big Jus' [Company Flow] albums, the Broady Champs group album that dropped on Day by Day Entertainment at the height of their success, and his never-officially-released Pretty Weapons solo album, and you have the makings of an underground legend. In 2008, Spekt stepped out of the shadows and teamed up with prolific NYC fixture, Karniege, as the Invizzibl Men. The result was a futuristic banger of an album, The Unveiling, that sported guest spots from Cannibal OX, C-Rayz Walz and Billy Woods, amongst others.

Now Backwoodz Studioz is proud to present Guilty Party, a brand new collaborative project with MarQ Spekt and producer Lex Boogie From the Bronx. One producer, one MC; Guilty Party is a stylistic return to the gritty mid-nineties basement sessions that Spekt hones his craft in. It's a return to lo-fi, extra filthy samples and hard-as-granite lyrics. Spekt is an Mc's MC, but on this project he expanded his palette by co-producing beats with Lex Boogie as the two came to boil down the essence that is Spekt.

MarQ put it best saying "This free album is a dedication to raw hiphop coming from the heart. No million dollar studio tricks or Autotune, or even big name collaborations. This is just sky diving with the pen."

I highly recommend getting this album! If you're fiending for that raw grilchy hiphop, you need to download this album. Marq Spekts is doin it real big, the man is international. This is the shit that seperates the newjacks from the real headz that repsect the culture. He's been doin this for years and is probably one of the few cats locally that I fuck with on the music tip. Get the album...KhanOne
